  • Condition: In very good used condition. Minimal wear to playing surface. Very good unworn edges. Note brownish discolorations, as shown in example photos. I am guessing that these may be from the glue used, and have not attempted to clean them. This is a nice item.

    Description

    This hand drum by Clarence A. Wells ( -1950) depicts a pair of hawks in the graphic Haida style and is titled "Fish Hawk". The red, black, and white coloring of the eagles makes a dramatic contrast with the natural background color of the drum surface.
    Title and signature present along edge. Drum is 11 inches in diameter by 2 inches deep.
    Northwest Coast Native Haida artist Clarence A. Wells is a native Canadian artist from the Gitsen Clan of the Tsimshian First Nation. He often works in the Northern style of Haida, Tlingit and Tsimshian. His award winning designs are internationally recognized and referred to by prominent anthropological scholars.
