Description
These amplifiers were made by Thales / Comark / Thomson (take your pick, the company changed names over the years while selling the same product). They made television broadcast transmitters. These were driver amplifiers for their IOT transmitters. Pulled from working service as many NTSC transmitters were decomissioned several years ago. These are 100 Watt amplifiers that use 4 SGS Thomson SD1490 devices paralleled. The SD1490 is specified as a dual push-pull Class A UHF Transistor. These amplifiers are great for the test bench or any application that you might have that needs a Class A driver. They have a power gain of 10 db which means you will need to drive them with somewhere around 12-18 watts or so to get full drive.Supply voltage for these is 28 VDC.
These are broad-band amplifiers. As you can see from the sweep, the gain peaks at around 470 MHz all the way up to around 700 MHz. Their design was for UHF TV RF channels 14-50.
Has the power leads as well as a ribbon cable that provided operating status to the main transmitter. You do not need anything on the ribbon cable to make these operate, just hook up power and drive with RF.
