VICTORIAN SWISS WAIST, VELVET STRAPS, HOOKS & EYES, LACING

Description

This is a velvet Swiss waist. With wide, velvet ribbon straps most likely added later on, it fastens with metal hooks and eyes, also has homemade thread "eyelets" in front, which I have threaded a blue ribbon through. It's edged with silk ribbon in a gathered or bunched design. I think it could be worn with the fasteners in front and the eyelets in back.
It's 24" wide, as you see it, laid out flat. The ribbon could be adjusted a bit either way.
The wide ribbon straps have some color loss, you can see this in the photos.  The velvet is not as "dusty" or faded, however, as it appears in the photos.
The silk ribbon edging is very good. The homemade thread "eyelets" are very improvised, a couple would need some reinforcing.
